What started out as a seemingly easy pregnancy for Kim Kardashian – she effortlessly hosted a New Year's Eve bash in Las Vegas shortly after announcing she was expecting – took a turn for the tough, as a heavy schedule, lengthy divorce proceedings (with ex Kris Humphries) and undisclosed illness preceded the early birth of her daughter last weekend.
Just after her pregnancy news was made official, the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, 32, told PEOPLE, "I've felt good. I've felt no morning sickness, but it isn't the easiest. People always say pregnancy is so easy and fun. It's definitely an adjustment; It's learning about your body, but I've felt really good."
Here's how the jet-setting starlet began slowing down – and getting back up – after an early March hospitalization.

Kardashian is rushed to the hospital following a weekend in France with boyfriend and dad-to-be Kanye West, a source tells PEOPLE. The observer says she looked ill when she landed in L.A. and went straight to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center. Up until this point, the reality star was working out at Tracy Anderson studios almost daily.

A couple of days later, she downplayed the matter, Tweeting, "Thanks for all the well wishes, I'm doing fine! Just resting ... have a good weekend. Love you guys!"
She also gets back on Twitter, posting a link to her blog of a night out catching up with her besties, La La Anthony, Rachel Roy and Angie Martinez.
But a few weeks later, Kardashian admits at the premiere of Tyler Perry's Temptaton: Confessions of a Marriage Counselor that pregnancy is "a little painful," explaining, "I've gotten sick a couple times, and that puts you out. ... I like to be active ... but I've been chilling out. I took a week off just to rest. It was amazing."

Later E! airs an episode of KUWTK portraying her health problem as much scarier than she had let on. Kardashian is rushed to the doctor mid-pregnancy after experiencing severe abdominal pain. Her doctor initially fears appendicitis, but it turns out to just be a stomach infection.
"I can never do this again," Kardashian says. "It hurts so badly."
Around the same time, Kardashian takes to Twitter to let the world know she did the unthinkable – stepped out sans heels. "I never thought I would say this … But I'm wearing flats today," said the starlet.
But Kardashian is back to business as usual in no time, making more media rounds while donning three different ensembles in eight hours – all of which she paired with heels.
The TV personality Instagrams a mouthwatering photo of French fries and a burger from In-N-Out, and writes, "Damn!!! I spoke too soon! My 1st pregnancy craving! #InNOut #EnjoyingEveryBite."
The fashionista actually admits she's okay not wearing heels, telling PEOPLE, "I'm loving flats and flat sandals. I'm just trying to find really cute ones."
That same week, Kardashian continues making the media rounds to promote the Perry film. This time she stops by The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and jokes about what she and West will name their little one on-the-way.

Her body may have been slowing on occasion, but her tummy was surely growing. Kardashian Tweeted a photo of her burgeoning baby bump for all of her fans to see, with the caption "baby love" to accompany the revealing shot.
Piling additional stress onto her pregnancy, a solemn-looking Kardashian shows up in an L.A. courtroom for a mandatory closed-door settlement conference in her divorce case with Humphries.
Luckily, just days later, the exes reach a settlement that seems to appease both parties, leaving Kardashian with one less stressor. She shows up to court wearing a black cocktail dress, black high heels and her hair down. In early June, the divorce is finalized, ensuring Kardashian will give birth to West's child while not being legally married to another man.
Kardashian begins to settle into her pregnancy, but says transition was rough. "Now I think I'm past all the awkward phases and stages, and once you feel the baby kick, it's a whole new experience," the mom-to-be says about a month after she fell ill. "I finally really embrace it. I love it now, but it took a minute. It was a lot … of body changes and stuff. ... I'm really not worried or nervous."
Kardashian's baby bump doesn't stop her from smiling on vacation in Greece with her whole family, where she poses in a red dress with big sis Kourtney Kardashian and Tweets, "Enjoying Greece."

Still donning couture and heels, Kardashian confidently wraps her bump in a custom Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci floral gown as she makes her debut at the Met Gala, rocking a high slit that shows off her legs.

As her due date gets closer, Kardashian feels pressure of the paparazzi, Tweeting, "A paparazzi almost crashed into my car today! I am still shaking! He put me in such danger! When will this legalized stalking stop???!!!???"
Kardashian is still going strong with her exercising, Tweeting, "Rise & grind! Workout time!"
Despite swelling in her toes and ankles, Kardashian, clad in a Givenchy White Open Sleeve Midi dress, continues to wear shoes that wrap around tightly in those areas – in this case, they're Givenchy's Albertina Podium heels.
Kardashian vows she's taking a final trip to Paris and then she's done traveling until she gives birth. At this point, she's finally wearing a maternity tank, leggings and Nike sneakers. She blogs: "We were doing some baby shopping and checking on our place here before heading to LA for a while."
Around that same time, Kardashian Instagrams a photo of her pretty pout with the caption, "My pregnancy lips are outta control #IGuessNotABadProblemToHave."
Kardashian celebrates her baby shower in Beverly Hills, where she is joined by West, her immediate and extended family members and pals, Kelly Osbourne, Maria Menounos, Kimberly Stewart, NeNe Leakes and Mel B.
"Kim and Kanye were so cute – he rubbed her belly," Kardashian's aunt Karen Houghton tells PEOPLE right after the fancy affair. "They're just really blessed. It's such a happy day."

One in front, behind, & one on each side just to have me drive at their speed so they can snap through the window. It's really so scary what they are legally allowed to get away with! For years I've always been so gracious. Every shot they take now just isn't flattering & crazy stories get made up, so why would I willingly just let them stalk me & smile for them? Let me enjoy this last month of pregnancy please without threats & being scared to leave my home due to what dangerous thing they just threatened to do to me."
The frustration continues: "What will it take for there to be laws put in place to prevent this behavior? I get I live a public life. I live my life on a reality show for the world to see. I love my life, but when the cameras stop, that doesn't mean I don't want a break too. I'm 32 yrs old now, about to be a mom. I'm not 25 clubbing around LA anymore. There's no excuse for threats & stalking!"
The same day as the rant, Kardashian was still interview-ready, Tweeting a sultry-faced photo before heading off to do press.

Kardashian gives birth to a girl earlier than had been expected by the public. The starlet, who apparently experienced an undisclosed illness, "looked very exhausted" at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, an eyewitness told PEOPLE, adding that West dropped everything to be by his girlfriend's side during labor.
After spending a week in the hospital, Kim and Kanye took daughter North West home – announcement of her name received a dramatic response of its own.
Amid it all, according to BFF Jonathan Cheban, Kim is "doing amazing."
